Valleys and danger

This is an unremarkable section except for the fact that it is a three valley ride, taking us along Tomarata, Whangaripo and Matakana valley roads, but it is distinguished for the highly dangerous Matakana to Warkworth section. With no shoulders, heavy traffic, and lots of SUVs we knew it would be bad, and my original schedule would have had us doing it on a Friday afternoon or Monday, but it worked out to be Sunday due to a lack of affordable accommodation in Matakana and the dinner we had booked with cousin Judy and my pseudo twin Mike in Warkworth that night. Bamboo is excellent
Annie’s bnb just north of Warkworth is a real treat too with a quirky shop full of collectibles, and they provide a full breakfast. Another of Jill’s best finds.
